How to test formaldehyde?

Our vinyl flooring is none of formaldehyde at all. However there may be some formaldehyde in wood flooring.
 Formaldehyde is 2 kinds of carcinogens, and it mostly influence the children. 





We would like to share some methods how to test formaldehyde:

1. Formaldehyde self-test box
First you should buy one formaldehyde self-test box in market.
Put the test paper in the the room, and wait for 4-8 hours, If the concentration of the formaldehyde in the room is high, 4 hours is fine, otherwise 8 hours is necessary, then compare the shown color with the color chart.  If the test paper shows yellow, there is no formaldehyde. If yellow-green, the formaldehyde is within limit. If green or blue, the formaldehyde exceeds the limit. There will be color difference  in different room condition.

2. Household formaldehyde measuring instrument
There is household formaldehyde measuring instrument in the market. If you want to measuring the formaldehyde by yourself, you could buy one. It is not exact, just for the reference.

3. Drying method
Drying method is Chinese standard method. In stationary temperature & humidity, put 10 samples of 5cm*15cm into a special 40 Liter container. There is some water in the bottom.  After a certain period of time, measure the quantity of formaldehyde dissolving in the water.   

4. Third-party detection institution
If you want authoritative testing report, you could ask the third-party detection institution to help you, such as SGS.
